It’s 100 percent commission

True, there is no salary, no benefits and no retirement. Not even health insurance, sick or vacation time and dental plans. But a real estate agent's income isn’t limited by an hourly wage or a corporate-dictated salary range. As a real estate agent, your income is largely dictated by the time you invest. Real estate success is a deal-by-deal daily scramble.

 

Note, however, just as one can benefit disproportionately from selling successes -- you are alone in the desert when deals do not close. A commission-only job means no money when sales don’t materialize.

 

 

Not for the faint of heart.

 

Real estate is simple but not easy.  It is a common misconception that real estate agents make tons of money for not doing much.  Just like any small business, it takes guts, consistency and an ability to invest time and money to create a sustainable practice, more so to create a profitable business and a viable livelihood.  For every client that says "yes", there is about 99 no's you'd encounter.

 

Those who are able to "graciously" move forward despite set-backs will do extremely well.
